H.O.T. Graphic
Services was founded as “House of Type”
in 1976 by Inez Shapiro in a spare bedroom of her home
on Fries Avenue in South Toledo. The former House of
Type offered quality typesetting and “paste-up”
services at an affordable price with the highest-level
customer service available anywhere. House of Type pioneered
a number of Toledo firsts including 24-hour typesetting
operations, the complete Linotype font library and the
desktop publishing service bureau.
Since that time, under the direction of sons Greg, Myron
and Norm, the Shapiro organization has grown to include
several entities and a national reputation. Adopting
our customers’ frequently used initials for House
of Type, we officially became H.O.T. Graphic Services
in 1990 and continued to expand our services.
The H.O.T. Graphics family is now in its fourth location,
has over 25 employees and operates two shifts to best
serve our large base of freelancers, ad agencies, small
businesses and corporate accounts who count on H.O.T.
on a daily basis!
